Process

  • Please submit an adoption application either by email or fax.  All applications must contain accurate and complete information.  We require that you be at least 21 years of age.

  • Your application will then be received and processed.  This usually takes one to three days and includes required veterinary and personal reference checks which will be completed by our volunteers.

  • We will contact you after your application has been reviewed and, if approved, we will schedule and complete a required home visit.  We ask that all family members and animals living in the home be present for the home visit.

  • When possible, we will bring the animal(s) you are interested in adopting with us to your home to meet you and your family.  If this is not possible, we will contact you to schedule another time for you and your family (including animals in your family) to meet the animal(s) you are interested in adopting.

  • Following an approved home visit and meeting with the animal(s) you would like to adopt, the last step in our adoption process is to complete and sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  What's next? You get to take your furry friend home to love and spoil!

  • If several applications are submitted for the same animal, a decision will be made by us after careful consideration of all applicants in order to select the best match for both the animal and the applicant.  We carefully screen all interested applicants to help ensure our animals are adopted into safe, responsible, and loving forever homes.  For this reason, applications are not considered on a first-come first-served basis.  Not every home/family is suitable for every animal.

  • Following the adoption of one of our rescued animals, we will contact you to request an update and see how the animal and you are adjusting.  We are happy to help our adopters at any time and for any reason following the adoption of one of our rescued animals.  Please do not hesitate to contact us for any reason (i.e. with concerns or questions related to your newly adopted animal).  In addition, we require that we be notified immediately should you decide to surrender/rehome an animal adopted from our rescue for any reason.

  • Please note that we require an adoption fee for all of our rescued animals.  This fee is used to help our rescue cover our rescue expenses such as veterinary bills, food and supply costs, administrative costs, and other expenses required to care for our rescued animals.  This fee also allows us to continue to do what we love and rescue more animals who need our help.

  • Rescue Dogs Rock Animal Rescue has the right to deny/decline any applicant.  Our decisions are always made in what we believe to be the best interests of our rescued animals and after careful consideration.  Our animals’ happiness, comfort, and safety are extremely important to us and we take our responsibility for their lives very seriously and appreciate your understanding.

  • The time it takes to complete our adoption process varies, but usually takes one week or less.  Your adoption process may be longer or shorter depending on your and our volunteers’ availability to complete each step of our adoption process.  We do our best to contact your veterinarian(s) and personal references within one to two days following your adoption application submission.  Once your veterinary and personal references are approved, we will contact you to schedule a time to complete your home visit.

  • Please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page of our website for additional information about our rescue and adoption process, including what is included in our adoption fees and our spay/neuter agreement.
